Operation Desert Fun V

It’s time to start making plans for Operation Desert Fun V. Thanks to generous donations, last years’ event raised thousands of dollars for the Cal-Diego Paralyzed Veterans Association as well as the California Association of 4 Wheel Drive Clubs, Inc.

On October 12-14, we invite all buggies, ATV’s, dirt bikes, and 4x4’s to come out and participate in runs, games and a raffle for the kids as well as the adults. We are offering a few SUV runs to introduce new 4x4 owners to our beautiful desert. We would also like to encourage all businesses to set up a booth, to share your products and information with our anticipated crowd of at least 500 registrants, their friends and companions! We are also seeking donations for both the kids’ and adults’ raffles in the form of money or product (does not have to be 4x4 or desert-related).

We will not be charging vendors who wish to come out to join us; rather, we offer the following:

• A donation of cash or product to the raffle gets you a booth, your logo in the program and your flyer in the stuff bags.
• $200 in cash or donated product gets you the above AND a business-card-sized ad in the program.
• $350 gets you all of the above but with a ¼ page ad.
• $600 gets you the above but with a ½ page ad and 1 of your banners strategically placed.
• $750 and above gets you a full-page ad and 2 banners with one of them on or above the stage.
  (Not-for-profit corporations are welcome to have a booth with no donation expected.)

The Cal-Diego Paralyzed Veterans Association serves U.S. military veterans primarily in and around San Diego, CA. Cal-Diego PVA's programs focus on ensuring quality of life for these men and women who have served their country so bravely. Through sports and recreation, advocacy, and education, Cal-Diego PVA makes sure these veterans return to being active members of society. Through support and encouragement, Cal-Diego PVA members have gone on to compete in the Paralympic Games, get their college degrees, and discover hidden artistic talents. They learn to focus on their abilities instead of their disabilities. Cal-Diego PVA does not receive any government funding but operates entirely on fundraisers and donations.

The best part is that all the proceeds from the raffles will go to the Cal-Diego PVA, and donations are tax-deductible. Cal 4 Wheel will be receiving the registration dollars to cover event costs, and to help in the continuing fight to keep our public lands open to all of us. Music and Art Therapy Classes

In September, Cal-Diego PVA will be sponsoring Music and Art Therapy Classes. The classes will be for SCI in and out patients and will be geared toward helping individuals meet both musical and non-musical goals. Sessions are designed according to each individual's special needs. We are hoping that these classes will enable people to access images from within, helping them to gain a greater and deeper understanding of themselves. Please refer back for more information.

Fireside Chat and Dinner with Congressman Filner

Take advantage of this opportunity to converse with Congressman Filner in a private lounge. This event will take place at the House of Blues located in Downtown San Diego.
